The event was dubbed the "Love Trumps Hate" rally. It drew dozens of participants despite the steamy temperatures. It was organized by Fairfield Democrats in a day after the Trump rally was announced.

State Rep. William Tong, who represents Stamford and Darien, was one of the Democratic leaders who spoke at the rally.

Addressing the crowd, Tong said, "A 5-year-old boy called Trump a bad man because he wants to keep people out. We understand Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit ... Donald Trump represents a threat to our national security and our way of life."
