The award, which is slated to be given annually, was designed to honor Republican elected officials who show a strong commitment to serving the people of Stamford.
“When Steve ran for the Board of Representatives three years ago, his slogan was ‘Service for the 16th,’” said RTC Chairman Fritz Blau. “He’s made good on all of his promises, whether it’s been filling potholes or fighting for local businesses. Steve’s commitment to his community made him an obvious first choice for this award."
Kolenberg, who is running against Democratic incumbent Caroline Simmons for state representative in the 144th District, said he was “honestly surprised” to be selected as the award’s inaugural recipient.
“I thought I was just doing my job,” he said. “I’ve made constituent service a major part of my agenda on the Board of Representatives, and when I get elected to the General Assembly that’s not going to change.”
