Previously, the city maintained and reserved nearly 20 spaces on the ground floor for government officials.

“It is time that we create more space in city hall for the people of Stamford. Hundreds of residents visit the Government Center on a daily basis to take advantage of critical services offered here and they should be given as direct access as possible,” Martin said in a statement.

The total number of reserved spots has been reduced from 25 to 10 on the first and second floors, and parking time limits have been extended to two hours under Martin's plan.

Two spaces on the first floor are also now designated for visitor pick-up and drop-off as well as emergency vehicles. Reserved parking for Senior Center and handicapped visitors will remain unchanged.
