This year’s valentines will be taken to the VA Hospital, Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport and other service organizations. Himes traditionally visits a participating school to make cards with students, and veterans accompany him to share stories about their service.

“I have seen how appreciative veterans are when someone sincerely thanks them for their service and know they were incredibly grateful for the many beautiful cards they received over the past four years,” Himes said in a statement. “This is a great chance for kids to learn about the sacrifice our men and women in uniform make while showing our veterans they are always in our thoughts.”

Last year, more than 60 schools participated by making valentines for distribution. Himes made cards with students at KT Murphy School in Stamford.

Anyone who would like to participate in this year’s Valentines for Vets program should call Paul Coyle in Himes’s Bridgeport office at 866-453-0028. Valentines may also be mailed to or dropped off at either of Himes’ district offices by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Himes's Bridgeport office is located at 211 State St., 2nd Floor, Bridgeport, CT 06604. His Stamford office is located at 888 Washington Blvd, Floor 10, Stamford, CT 06901.
