The proposal, introduced by the governor at the end of January, would include a $1.5 billion investment to expand all three campuses in hopes to make the state more competitive for jobs by having a more skilled workforce that employers want, a release from the Malloy’s office said.
"By targeting state resources to our flagship university we ensure that our young people have the skills they need to fill the jobs we are so aggressively pursuing. Make no mistake, we are making Connecticut competitive again," Malloy said in the original press release.
Malloy along with Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and UConn President Susan Herbst will hold a news conference about the proposal at the Stamford Campus at 2 p.m. followed by a Town Hall discussion about it with students, staff, and members of the public at 3 p.m.
The discussion with the community will be held in the multi-purpose room (art gallery) on the first floor.
