Caroline Simmons, who moved to Stamford last year, picked up the 144th District, knocking off incumbent Republican Michael Molgano.

It was a great night for Stamford's Democrats as they picked up all five of the Stamford-centered House districts.

Republicans maintained a toehold in Stamford as District 149 is Greenwich-centered but does include a portion of North Stamford. Republican Livvy Floren cruised to re-election in that district.

  • In District 145: Patricia Billie Miller defeated Republican Matthew Dellacorte.
  • District 146: Democrat newcomer Terry Adams defeated Republican Kieran Ryan.
  • District 147: Democratic incumbent William Tong beat back a challenge from Republican Dennis Mahoney. This district includes part of Darien.
  • In District 148 incumbent Daniel J. Fox defeated Republican Benjamin Aponte.
  • In the state Senate race in District 27 Democratic incumbent Carlo Leone faced a stiff challenge from Republican Eva Maldonaldo but was able to retain his district.
  • In District 36, that includes a part of North Stamford, incumbent Republican L. Scott Frantz turned back a challenge from Ed Heflin of the Green Party. This district also includes part of New Canaan and all of Greenwich.

All election results are unofficial until certified by the state secretary of the state.
