Worker Charged With Trying To Steal Two Diamond Rings From Greenwich Home

GREENWICH, Conn. -- A worker was caught trying to slip a pair of diamond rings back into a master bathroom after the homeowner discovered they were missing, Greenwich Police said.

The incident occurred late Thursday morning, when the Stanwich Road homeowner discovered a pair of diamond rings missing, police said. 

Carl A. Bouteiller, 35, of 220 Pearl Harbor St., Bridgeport, was working in the master bathroom when the homeowner realized the rings were gone, police said. He tried to return them, however, after questioning by the owner and by his boss, Bouteiller eventually confessed, police said.

Bouteiller was charged with second-degree criminal attempt at larceny and criminal attempt. He was unable to post $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court on Thursday.
