Sarina Sawyer, 52, was charged with breach of peace and interfering with an officer. She was held on $1,500 bond and will appear in court April 21.

Officers responded to the grocery store on Main Street shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday on a report of a disturbance, police said. When they arrived, an employee pointed out Sawyer and said she wouldn't leave, police said.

The employee told police that she had come in and picked out beer, chips and a couple other items and taken them to the counter, but when she tried to pay with her credit card it was declined, according to police. She then became upset and started causing a scene, as well as demanding a receipt, police said.

She kept asking for her receipt, and opened a can of beer without paying, according to police reports. The clerk told her she could take the $2.25 worth of items, so long as she got out of the store, but she kept demanding the receipt, police said.

When officers arrived, she still kept demanding the receipt and became uncooperative with officers, police said.

Officers attempted to handcuff her, but she resisted, police said. It eventually took two officers to place her in handcuffs, police said. She was then taken to headquarters.
