DARIEN, Conn. - A Stamford woman was charged last week with assaulting a teen at the Darien Playhouse in January.
Jessenia Maharaj, 36, was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor, conspiracy to commit third-degree assault and breach of peace, Darien police said. She was released on a promise to appear in court March 11.
In late January, a 16-year-old working at the Darien Playhouse reported that a group of women came in and attacked her. She sustained scrapes, small cuts and swelling to the face and was transported to Stamford Hospital.
The teen identified Maharaj and another attacker, a 16-year-old with whom she had an ongoing dispute, according to police. The 16-year-old attacker was issued a summons Feb. 4 and charged with third-degree assault, conspiracy to commit third-degree assault and breach of peace. A warrant was issued for Maharaj and she turned herself in Feb. 28.
