Michael McCrorken, 28, of Ward Street, was charged with second-degree larceny and 37 counts of first-degree forgery for writing the checks from his employer, the owner of A Dash of Salt, a Post Road East catering company, police said.

The victim filed a fraud complaint with Westport Police on May 1, after he discovered digital copies of 37 checks made out to McCrorken from his business. All the signatures on the checks were not the owner’s, police said.

Westport police arrested McCrorken on a warrant Tuesday when he went for an appointment at the Adult Probation Office in Norwalk.

He was held on $25,000 bond and is expected to appear in court on Sept. 7.
