STAMFORD, Conn. -- Police said that the warmer weather is leading to a rash of home break-ins, according to a report by the Stamford Advocate.

More folks are leaving their windows open to stay cool, and the bad guys are taking advantage, police told the Stamford Advocate.

Police cited a recent case where a woman was surprised by a burglar who had crawled through a partially opened window at her Grove Street home, the Stamford Advocate story said.

Although the woman emerged from the scary encounter unharmed, police told the Stamford Advocate that it was a lesson for all to lock their windows.
