Police were dispatched to 158 Old Kings Highway North at around 5:40 p.m. on Friday, July 21. The UPS employee told police that the home has three roaming dogs, and that he was attempting to delivery a package when he was chased off by one of the dogs.

He told the officers that he was making a delivery to the same address on July 6 when one of the dogs bit his ankle. Police said he had a bandage on his ankle covering the dog bit, and that he said the bite had required stitches. When asked if he wanted to make a formal complaint, he said that he did not, and that he just wanted to make sure the homeowners secured the dogs better for their and others' safety, police said.

The officers attempted to make contact with the homeowners, but as they approached the home the three dogs, which resembled pit bulls, began to move towards the officers, police said.

There was no fence on the property that would prevent the dogs from roaming, police said. The officers decided it would be best to contact the homeowner by phone. The complaint was forwarded to the Darien Animal Control Officer for follow up.
