The upset consumer confronted the tattoo artist near the intersection of Broad Street and Atlantic Street just after 5 p.m., told him he had been looking for him since the botched tattoo a few months ago and demanded compensation because he said it caused him a skin infection, police said.

An argument erupted between the two men, police said. The consumer punched the tattoo artist and continued punching and kicking him after he fell to the ground, police said.

Officers were called in and arrested Robert Santos, 24, of 71 Quintard Terrace. He was charged with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree assault. Officers discovered during the arrest that there was a warrant for Santos on similar charges stemming from an April incident, police said.

He was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Wednesday.

Police had no information on the tattoo or where on the body it was etched.
