The teens -- ages 16 and 17 -- were caught about 9 p.m. Wednesday on Limerick street by Stamford officers who were patrolling the area after receiving a 911 call from a resident, Conklin said.
When the officers responded to the scene, they were able to spot three teens within about two minutes, police said.
When the officer pulled up, the teens took off running, but one of the officers was able to tackle one of the teens and another was found hiding in bushes in a backyard.
The third teen got away.
Conklin said the two captured had items on them that owners were later able to identify such as change purses, headphones, a make-up kit, and other items.
"This is why we tell residents over and over to lock their cars and take their valuables inside," said Conklin.
He said the department has watched enough videoes of these types of crimes locally to know that the most thieves will check to see if the car is locked and move on if it is.
"They look for the unlocked cars so they can quickly grab items and move on without making noise," he added.
The two were charged with multiple counts of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and larceny.
