After receiving information about a person selling pills out of a white Ford Fusion, police stopped the suspect’s vehicle and blocked both people in the car at gunpoint, Capt. Richard Conklin said. The driver, Mark James-Leigh of Stratford, had a loaded glock and a bag of pills in his possession, and the passenger, Andrew Inthirath, had 10 bags of crack cocaine in the groin area of his pants, Conklin said.
James-Leigh had in his possession 23 30-milligram pills of oxycodone, which is “very much in demand now,” Conklin said. On the street, oxycodone can sell for $1 per milligram, he said. The gun had 13 .40-caliber rounds in it, and police also seized $820 in cash from the suspect, the captain said.
The vehicle was stopped just after 11 p.m. near the Adams Avenue and West Broad Street intersection, Conklin said.
James-Leigh, 21, was charged with possession of narcotics, sale of certain illegal drugs, illegal carrying of a pistol without a permit and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, police said. He was held on $100,000 bond and has a court date of June 18.
Inthirath, 30, was charged with possession of narcotics and sale of certain illegal drugs, police said. He was held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear the same day.
