Christopher Jonathan Williams, 18, of 55 Stillwater Ave., Unit 55, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named due to his age were each charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Bond was set at $50,000 for Williams. The 17-year-old was held in custody at a youth facility.
Police said they were helped in cracking the case by mistakes by the two teens.
In the Oct. 31 robbery on Liberty Street, the 17-year-old approached a Hispanic teen and began talking to him, police said. As he did so, the second suspect came up behind the victim and "put a black gun to his head and told him to shut up and not breathe," said Lt. Diedrich Hohn.
The two suspects stole $40 in cash and a cellphone from the victim, Hohn said.
However, the victim is a Westhill High School student who recognized the 17-year-old as a fellow Westhill student, police said. The victim told the school's student resource officer the next day about the robbery.
The second mistake was committed by Williams. A few days later he was spotted by a housing police officer in the Bronx, N.Y., with an open container of alcohol, police said.
When the officer approached Williams, he spotted what appeared to be a handgun tucked into his waistband and ordered Williams to put his hands up, police said. Williams resisted and had to be subdued by the officer, police said.
Williams was arrested by New York City police on various charges but was able to post bond on Nov. 7. But the mugshot provided by New York City police to Stamford Police helped the victim identify the second suspect in the Oct. 31 robbery, Hohn said.
The 17-year-old was arrested at Westhill High School. Williams was arrested at Stamford Academy.
