Two Men Killed In Separate Overnight Crashes In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Two men were killed in Fairfield in separate but related accidents early Tuesday, according to the Connecticut Post.

Albert J. Kavalecz, 85, of Fairfield, was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Black Rock Turnpike near the intersection with Burroughs Road.

Demonte Anozine, a 20-year-old Bridgeport man, was killed after he was ejected from a car in a crash Interstate 95, which forced traffic onto local streets, the Post said. Albert J. Kavalecz, 85, of Fairfield, died in a second accident on Black Rock Turnpike in a collision with a tractor-trailer diverted off I-95, the Post said.

Anozine died and two others were pulled from the wreckage of the 3:10 a.m. rollover crash on northbound I-95 between Exits 22 and 23 in Fairfield. The car rolled down an embankment and struck several trees after colliding with a second car, the Post said.

One victim was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport and the other to Bridgeport Hospital, both with non-life-threatening injuries, Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola said.   

The driver of a second vehicle was transported to St. Vincent's Medical Center, also with non-life-threatening  injuries, he said. 

In the second crash on Black Rock Turnpike, Kavalecz was extricated from his heavily damaged car by firefighters. He was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport with critical injuries, Gomola said. He died there later. 

Fairfield police are investigating the Black Rock Turnpike accident.
