STAMFORD, Conn. — A fifth person has been sentenced in a drug scheme that had ties to Stamford, a news release from U.S. Attorney David B. Fein said.
Christopher Allen, 47, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., was sentenced on Friday to 68 months in jail followed by three years of supervised release, the release said.
He was arrested on Sept. 13, 2011, and pleaded guilty to extortion under color of right and receipt of a bribe by a public official last April, the release said.
Allen worked as an officer for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration, and received cash payments to assist a drug trafficker to bring oxycodone pills from Florida to Connecticut, the release said.
He is now the third former TSA officer and sixth person overall sentenced in the operation, the release said.
Authorities first heard about the TSA officer in April of 2011 when he was arrested at a Stamford hotel in possession of 6,000 oxycodone pills, officials said previously. The trafficker then worked with authorities to lead them to others involved in the ring, the release said.
