TSA Officer Sentenced In Connecticut Drug Ring

STAMFORD, Conn. — A former officer of the Transportation Security Administration was sentenced to 76 months in federal prison for his role in a prescription drug ring that brought oxycodone from Florida into Westchester County Airport for sale in Connecticut, U.S. Attorney David B. Fein said Tuesday in a press release.

Jonathan “J.B.” Best, 31, will also serve three years of supervised release after the prison term for one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone, the release said. He was arrested Sept. 12, 2011, and pleaded guilty April 17, the release said.

Best, who worked at Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, accepted cash payments from the trafficker and then made sure he was not stopped by airport security, the release said. Best also told the trafficker how to dress and act to not be stopped, and he recruited fellow officer Christopher Allen, who was also arrested, into the scheme, the release said.

Best took cash from an undercover officer posing as a partner of the trafficker, who worked with investigators after being caught, the release said.

A total of people have been charged in the drug ring, the release said.
