The incident took place around 12:28 p.m., April 24 at the intersection of Ridgefield Road and Old Ridgefield Road when 19-year-old Aiden Jaecklein of Wilton hit a guardrail in a Chrysler convertible with Florida plates and then slammed into the back of a Toyota already stopped in traffic, said Lt. Robert Kluk.

Jaecklein then took off north on Ridgefield Road, he added.

The victim of the crash was able to provide police with the Florida license plate number which they tracked to an owner in Wilton, Kluk said.

Police were able to locate and arrest Jaecklein after he was described by the victim and witnesses from the scene of the crash and was confirmed from a video recording retrieved from the Village Market, Kluk said.

Jaecklein was charged with reckless driving, following too closely, interfering with an officer/resisting, and evading responsibility/personal injury.

He was released on $5,000 bond.
