Stamford14-Year-Old Arrested After Police Chase

STAMFORD, Conn. — A 14-year-old Stamford boy was arrested on Bedford Street after running from police and pushing an officer down, Sgt. Joseph Kennedy said.

The officer was directing traffic outside the Ferguson Library, when he saw the pursuit and attempted to catch the suspect, who knocked him down, Kennedy said. The injured officer struck his head on the ground and was sent to the hospital, Kennedy said.

The chase continued up Bedford Street and into the Pedigree Ski Shop, where police flushed out the suspect and arrested him.

The boy was wanted for for missing a court date, and police were called Tuesday to get him, Kennedy said.

In addition to the taken into custody order, the boy also was charged with interfering with police and assault on a police officer, Kennedy said.
