Bianca Diaz of Stamford was driving a 1997 Honda northbound on Route 15 between exits 35 and 36 in Stamford at around 9 a.m. Sunday when she lost control of her vehicle for unknown reasons, state police said. Her car traveled across the right lane, into the grassy area on the right-hand shoulder.

Her car then hit a dirt embankment and entered the woodline on the shoulder, police said. She struck a series of small trees before hitting a large tree in the woods, state police said.

State police said that Diaz succumbed to her injuries as a result of the impact. Her next of kin has been notified, and the accident is still under investigation.
