Vartuli, 28, is from Stamford, and was most recently employed by the city of Stamford, where she worked as an account clerk for the Stamford Police Department. She graduated from Westhill High School in Stamford, after which she attained her associate's degree in accounting from Baker College.
Vartuli participated in the Fall 2016 recruitment process for an entry level police officer with the New Canaan Police Department. She was one of 114 candidates that submitted eligible applications for employment, and successfully endured an intensive testing and selection process that included a written examination, physical agility testing, an interview panel, polygraph, a psychological evaluation, a background investigation, medical testing and Police Commission interviews.
Vartuli will be sworn in at 10 a.m. on June 27 at the Lapham Community Center. She will begin her recruit training on July 7 at the Connecticut Police Academy's 358th training session in Meriden. The tentative graduation date for that class is Dec. 21.
After completion of the academy, Vartuli will undergo a minimum of 400 hours of field training with the New Canaan Police Department before being certified as a probationary police officer.
