Stamford Teen Hospitalized After Crashing Bike Into Car

STAMFORD, Conn. — A 17-year-old suffered serious injuries after he crashed into a car while riding his bike on East Main Street in Stamford on Thursday night, police said.

The bicyclist was heading west on East Main Street in the right lane, when a vehicle traveling east attempted to make a left turn onto Lawn Avenue, the police department's initial investigation found. The bike collided with the right front of the vehicle, a statement from police said.

The crash was reported at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, and the bicyclist was transported by Emergency Medical Service to Stamford Hospital for treatment, the release said.

The driver of the vehicle is 59, and both the teen and the driver are from Stamford, police said.

The incident was still under investigation by the Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad. Anyone with information can call the squad at 203-977-4712.
