STAMFORD, Conn. – Although details have not been solidified, a tentative pact between Stamford and members of the police union was being hailed as a milestone by the city, according to The Stamford Advocate.

Police have worked without a contract for five years, and past pacts had to be settled through state arbitration, The Stamford Advocate story said.

The police union’s 271 members and the city have yet to formally vote on the preliminary deal, but both sides report feeling hopeful that things will work out, The Stamford Advocate said.
