STAMFORD, Conn. -- Stamford police are searching for a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting in the South End on Thursday, June 5, according to thehour.com.

Police believe the suspect could be responsible for the targeted killing of 46-year-old William "Buttons" James, who was shot in the head and pronounced dead at Stamford Hospital, thehour.com reported. 

James' murder marks the first homicide in Stamford since April, 2013. 

Stamford police are asking anyone with information to call the Stamford Police Detective Bureau at 203-977-4417.
