The attempted sexual assault occurred behind the Sheraton Hotel at 7:40 p.m., when a lone Hispanic man accosted a woman in the area of East Main Street near Grove Street, police said.

The man was described as in his 20s, about 5-foot-7, with a medium build and a close-cropped beard. He was wearing checkered shorts and a dark T-shirt with a design on the front.

He was also wearing a baseball cap turned backward.

Police haven't been able to identify the suspect but believe someone who knows the individual may be able to identify him by his gait, mannerisms or clothing.

Officers believe the man is familiar with the area and may be employed nearby, police said.
