The woman, described as black, 5-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, entered the Hope Street bank and gave a teller a handwritten note asking for cash just after 9 a.m., a statement from the police department said.

She took an undetermined amount of cash and headed east on Scofield Avenue toward Center Street, the statement said.

The suspect was wearing a black-and-white checkered hooded sweatshirt, with a brown bandanna covering her face, gray pants and white sneakers, police said. She also had white gloves on her hands, pulled over her sleeves, police said.

The money was placed inside a medium-size chocolate leather pocketbook with short straps, police said. It had a decorative band with gold straps, the report said.

She is at large, and police do not know her identity, the release said. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 203-977-4417.
