Stamford Police Officers Band Together To Collect Thanksgiving Turkeys

STAMFORD, Conn. - Stamford police officers gathered and donated dozens of turkeys Monday for the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County in Stamford.

Stamford police officers from all over the city worked together to bring dozens of frozen turkeys to the Food Pantry of Lower Fairfield County prior to one of the biggest holiday meals in the American calendar.

“At Thanksgiving, our officers want to make sure that Stamfordites will still have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional holiday dinner, regardless of their financial situation,” said Todd Lobraico, president of the Stamford Police Association.

Before the police began the turkey drive, the Food Bank said it was still 800 turkeys short of meeting their needs.

“Our officers are very conscious about helping those who need it most and are looking forward to giving back to our community members,” Lobraico said.

The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County supplies groceries to more than 100 nonprofit organizations in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan and Wilton.  Last year the Food Bank gave out 15,000 turkeys at Thanksgiving.
