The resident called police at about 10:30 p.m. after she heard a man say, "Don't make me get my gun," during a dispute among a group of men, Sgt. Kelly Connelly said.
Officers quickly responded, but the men scattered upon their arrival, police said. A witness said she saw a young black man with dreadlocks carrying what she said looked like a gun from the Wild West, police said.
Officers detained a male matching that description but didn't find a weapon in his possession and released him, police said.
However, an officer searching the area discovered a handgun in the backyard of 22 Taylor St., under bushes, police said.
The blue steel Heritage .22-caliber revolver had a five-inch barrel and had three bullets in it, Connelly said.
No arrests have been made in the case, Connelly said.
