Stamford Police Find Knife, Bat In Suspect's Car

STAMFORD, Conn. — Police found a Bowie knife and baseball bat in a Stamford man’s car after he and three others were accused of  threatening to shoot another man Thursday morning, Sgt. Paul Vaccaro said.

According to Vaccaro, Zachary Savona, 29, and three others went to a Woodbine Road home to settle a disagreement between a resident there and one of their cousins. During the argument Savona and the others began yelling at the victim, and said they had a gun, Vaccaro said.

The suspects left when they heard the police coming, but were pulled over shortly after, Vaccaro said. While searching the vehicle, which Savona was driving, police found the knife and bat, but neither had been used in the incident, the sergeant said.

Savona was charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and second-degree breach of peace, police said.

The other three suspects: Jake Savona, 20, Marcello Savona, 22, both from Stamford, and Jose Torres, 30, of Bridgeport were also charged with second-degree breach of peace, police said.

There may have been two other suspects involved as well, but they were not arrested, Vaccaro said.
