Stamford Police Department Promotes New Sergeant In Its Ranks

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A onetime captain in the New York City Department of Correction was sworn in Tuesday as the Stamford Police Department's newest sergeant.

Doug Desio joined the Stamford Police Department 10 years ago after working for the correction department.  He has served as a patrol officer, worked in the narcotics unit and been in the K-9 unit for the last four years in Stamford.

Desio also serves in the department's honor guard unit, is a field training officer and is an instructor for the Police Academy.
