Stamford Police Department Accepts Applications For New Officers

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Stamford Police Department has announced an entry-level exam for new police officers being conducted Sunday, Dec. 4, and Saturday, Dec. 17.

All applications can be filed electronically through this link. The closing date for the application is Wednesday, Nov. 23. 

All candidates need to be a U.S. citizen, 21 years old at the time of appointment, have a valid U.S. driver's license and high school diploma or GED as well as no serious criminal convictions.

The process for approval includes a physical agility test, a written and oral exam, a polygraph exam, a medical and physical exam, a drug screening, oral interviews, six to eight months of police academy, field training and an 18-month probationary period. Veteran and residency points for Stamford residents will be considered.
