Stamford Police Charge 59-Year-Old Man In Drug Operation

STAMFORD, Conn. -- For a man nicknamed "Wolfie," it wasn't a wolf at the door, it was the police who arrested him Wednesday on drug-related charges.

Stamford Police arrested a city man on drug charges after watching him conduct an alleged drug transaction at Leone Park in Stamford.

Franklin L. "Wolfie" Reid, 59, of 18 High St., is facing a number of drug-related charges. His bond was set at $500, and he was given a court date of Feb. 4.

Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin said officers had information that Reid was conducting drug transactions and said he was someone they had been been involved with previously.

"We are very familiar with 'Wolfie,' " Conklin said.

Officers set up surveillance outside his residence, followed him to Leone Park and saw him conduct a drug transaction, Conklin said.

After the transaction was completed, officers stopped the buyer, discovered marijuana in his possession and issued him a ticket on marijuana possession, Conklin said.

Officers then went to Reid's residence, where they discovered marijuana and packaging materials after he agreed to let them search the place, Conklin said.
