STAMFORD, Conn. -- Two city men were charged in a Tuesday morning mugging of a man who was staying in a Stamford hotel and had gone out to Main Street for cigarettes, according to The Stamford Advocate.

The alleged robbery suspects were caught by a police officer who was at work on an overtime job directing traffic, said The Stamford Advocate.

The mugging victim, 20, was pursued at about 2 a.m. by the alleged muggers, who took him to an alley and stole money from his wallet, Sgt. Robert Shawinsky told The Stamford Advocate.

The pair then fled on bikes, reported the The Stamford Advocate.

They were caught by Troy Judge, the officer working the overtime job, who gave chase in his car, said The Stamford Advocate.
