STAMFORD, Conn. - Seven guns were turned into Stamford police on the last day of a gun buy-back program that netted 56 firearms.
One rifle, two shot guns, three revolvers and a pistol were turned in Saturday at the Chester Addison Community Center, Officer Joseph Steyer said.
"We'd like to get more but you can't compare us to Bridgeport and Hartford. We'll never get those numbers," Steyer said.
A buyback program was held 11 years ago and 67 guns were turned in, Steyer said.
The police department may hold additional buybacks next month but hasn't scheduled any yet, he said.
"We've held four buybacks at different locations. We're trying to be as accessible as possible," he said.
