Stamford Man Twice Grabbed Phone From Girlfriend As She Called 911

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A man twice ripped the telephone from his girlfriend's hands as she was calling police during a dispute Tuesday, Stamford police said.

Joseph Stephen Kravar Jr., 32, of 46 Parker Ave., Stamford, is charged with twice ripping the phone from his girlfriend's hands while she was calling police about him.

The woman called police because she said her boyfriend was acting erratically and throwing items inside their apartment, police said.

The man was taken into custody without incident, and the woman declined medical treatment for what police said was a small bump on her forehead, police said.

Charged with one count each of disorderly conduct and third-degree assault and two counts of interfering with a 911 call is Joseph Stephen Kravar Jr., 32, of 46 Parker Ave. Bond was set at $5,000, and he was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Wednesday.
