Convicted Felon From Stamford Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun Charge

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 25-year-old Stamford man pleaded guilty Thursday to a single count of possessing a gun while being a convicted felon -- and he could face up to 10 years in prison.

Caleeb Brown entered the plea before U.S. District Judge Janet Bond Arterton, in her New Haven courtroom.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on Oct. 8, 2015, Stamford Police searched Brown's home and seized a .22-caliber handgun, a 6.35 mm pistol, 14 rounds of .22-caliber ammunition, a quantity of heroin and items used to package narcotics for distribution.

Before that search, Brown had multiple felony convictions for possession with intent to distribute narcotics. It's a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.

Arterton scheduled his sentencing hearing for April 26, 2017. He's been in federal custody since Feb. 10.

This case was investigated by the Stamford Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Douglas Morabito.
