Police said a man they questioned about an apparent drug deal they observed Monday afternoon first denied any illicit transactions and then said he did do a drug deal but only sold fake crack cocaine to his customer after police discovered what appeared to be two small bags of crack cocaine on him.

Police said a test revealed that the crack cocaine was actually "beat" a term used for fake drugs.

It didn't help city man Dwayne Davis, 19, as he was charged with misrepresenting a controlled substance.
