Stamford Man Charged With Robbing Woman Of Cell Phone

STAMFORD, Conn. — A 33-year-old man was charged with robbing a woman of her cell phone in Veterans Park in Stamford on Monday, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police told the Stamford Advocate that they were alerted by a Blue Light Emergency Phone on Monday morning. The phone was activated by a witness who had seen the robbery take place, the Stamford Advocate reported. When officers arrived on scene, they were able to locate a woman, who said a man had taken her phone, according to the Stamford Advocate.

The woman told officers that she knew the man who had taken her phone, and said that he had tried to throw her to the ground, according to the Stamford Advocate. The man, whom she identified as Omar Wright, then took her phone and fled, the Stamford Advocate reported.

Police were able to locate Wright and take him into custody, according to the Stamford Advocate. He was charged with third-degree robbery, sixth-degree larceny and breach of peace, and held on a $10,000 bond, according to the Stamford Advocate.
