Stamford Man Charged With Assaulting Hospital Security Officers

STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man fought with a pair of security guards as he tried to get into the old, closed part of Stamford Hospital on Wednesday morning, police said.

Edwin Montalvo, 27, of 7 Milton St. was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and one count each of second-degree criminal trespass and refusing to be fingerprinted. 

Police said he went to the hospital just after 10 a.m. wanting to see a patient who was not listed at the hospital.

“He then walked past the security guards and started to walk to the old portion of the hospital that is now closed,” Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said. “The security officers stopped Montalvo and told him to the leave the premises. At that point Montalvo started to fight both security guards.”

The security officers suffered minor injuries but were able to detain him until officers arrived, police said.
