Andrew Michaud, 50, was charged with criminal attempt, sixth-degree larceny and criminal trespass. He was held on $5,000 bond and will appear in court Jan. 23.

Police received a complaint from SNEW at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday about a larceny in progress. An employee said that a man later identified as Michaud pulled onto the property on State Street and began loading high voltage copper cable into his pickup truck, police said.

When the employee confronted Michaud, he got into his truck and took off, according to police reports.

As officers were en route, they realized that they had passed the truck as it was driving on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and heading toward I-95, police said.

Officers checked the area, and discovered that Michaud was on I-95 southbound headed toward Stamford, police said. He was stopped at Exit 9. Officers discovered $250 worth of stolen property in his truck, and found an active arrest warrant for him on larceny charges from Stamford, according to police reports. He was taken into custody.
