FAIRFIELD, Conn. – While on patrol, a Fairfield officer saw a car stopped in the travel lane on Grasmere Avenue early Saturday morning and found the driver asleep with his foot on the brakes.
It reportedly took the officer several attempts to awaken the driver, Daniel Olivia, 21, of Stamford.
The officer reported smelling alcohol and asked that Olivia take the field sobriety tests, which he reportedly could not complete. He told the officer he thought he was in Stamford, not Fairfield.
A passenger in the car was also asleep, and given an infraction ticked for possession of marijuana.
Olivia was charged with driving under the influence and was picked up by another adult. He paid a $100 cash bond and was given a court date of Nov. 1.
