Edward Flores, 28, of 43 Avery St. was arrested and charged with nine counts of third-degree assault, four counts of disorderly conduct and one count each of first-degree strangulation and third-degree assault, police said.
His bond was set at $25,000, and he was scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday.
Sgt. Kelly Connelly said the woman told police the assaults began when she was seven months pregnant with their now 11-month-old daughter.
The victim told police that in the last few weeks, he had assaulted her multiple assaults and she decided she had to go to police.
On their way from the beach Wednesday in his low-riding car, the vehicle struck a bump, angering him and leading him to yell at his girlfriend, police said.
When they returned home, he pushed her into a wall, Connelly said. He later kicked her in the head and then went to play with his Xbox, leaving his fiancée to fall asleep with their daughter, police said.
At about 3 a.m., she awoke as Flores punched her three times on her thigh after he lost in his Xbox game, police said.
"She said that is an ongoing issue," Connelly said. "Every time he plays and loses, he takes it out on her."
In an incident two weeks ago, she took off her engagement ring after an argument with him, police said. He then punched her until she put it back on, police said.
In an argument three weeks ago, he strangled her with his belt, police said.
"He took off his belt and he said he was 'going to take care of things' and he used it ti strangle her," Connelly said. "When he noticed she couldn't breathe, that's when he removed the belt."
He turned himself in to police on Friday after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.
