Nicholas MacDougall, 25, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession with intent to sell, possession within 1,500 feet of a school and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was held on $50,000 bond and will appear in court June 20.

Officers were traveling on Main Avenue at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday when they spotted MacDougall driving without a seatbelt, according to police reports. They pulled him over, and after seeing he had previously been convicted of felonies, they asked to search his car, according to police.

MacDougall consented to the search, but told officers that he did not have a key to the locked glove box and had never opened it since purchasing the car, police said.

Officers were able to peer inside the glove box and saw a plastic bag containing a white powder, according to police reports.

During the search, officers found the key and opened it, and found eight separately wrapped bags containing what was later revealed to be cocaine, police said. They also found several documents that contradicted MacDougall's statement that he had never entered the glove box, as well as $129 wrapped in a rubber band and two cellphones, police said. MacDougall told the officers that the cocaine was his, and he was placed under arrest, according to police reports.
