STAMFORD, Conn. -- A city man stole just under $17,000 in silverware and china from the 80-year-old mother of his girlfriend, Stamford Police said.
Andrew Michaud, 52, of 38 Arden Lane, is charged with second degree larceny.
Police said the complainant reported to police the missing items in February and believed it was Michaud who had done it. She said Michaud was living in the basement of the residence.
Michaud is currently in custody on other other charges including attempted theft of copper from the roof of Pearl East restaurant on Hope Street last December. He had also been charged in connection with theft of copper cable from South Norwalk Electric and Water in January. He had also been charged in 2014 with stealing copper wire from a High Ridge Road construction site.
According to court records, bond was set at $50,000 on the most recent charge. Court records show that he will be appearing in Stamford and Norwalk courts next week on about two dozen other charges from a variety of incidents in the last two years.
