STAMFORD, CONN. -- A Stamford man is facing strangulation and assault charges following an altercation Tuesday with his estranged wife at a Stamford restaurant, the Stamford Advocate reports.

Raul Martinez, 27, was charged with second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault after his 32-year-old wife told police that he strangled her and threw her out of the restaurant where he works, according to the Stamford Advocate.

Police said the woman, who is six months pregnant, went to the restaurant to talk about the couple's pending divorce and what it means to their unborn child, when an argument ensued, the Stamford Advocate reports.
