STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man was arrested Monday on suspicion of biting off a chunk of his cousin’s ear during an argument, Sgt. Rich Barbagallo said.

The victim told police he had asked Emilio Mendoza, 27, of 32 Stephen St., to turn down his music and the suspect began punching him in the head and bit off part of his ear, Barbagallo said. Mendoza told police the victim punched him first, Barbagallo said.

Responding officers arrived at the home to find the victim bleeding and with part of his ear missing, and the suspect holding his face, Barbagallo said. It is believed Mendoza swallowed the part of his ear, he said.

The victim was patched up at the hospital, he said.

Mendoza is expected to be charged with first-degree assault and disorderly conduct, Barbagallo said.
