STAMFORD, Conn. -- A 53-year-old man suffered a one-two punch on the left and right side of his face during a robbery attempt Tuesday night, police said.

Police said the man was returning to his residence around 7:30 p.m. when he walked by a man who asked him in Spanish to give him money. The man continued walking but was suddenly punched twice on his face, causing him to almost lose consciousness, police said.

The would-be robber then fled the scene without getting any money, police said.

The victim said he had seen the man before and described him as a black man, in his 30s and weighing about 180 pounds.
