STAMFORD, Conn. — A 22-year-old Stamford man was sentenced Friday to five years in prison for having sex with a 12-year-old girl and then will likely be deported to Guatemala, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Christopher Hernandez-Lucero was arrested in September after a Stamford girl told her middle school counselor that he had had sex with her twice in June 2015, the Advocate said.
Hernandez-Lucero pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault but said he accepted the plea deal only because he did not want to risk going to trial, where he faced 20 years in prison if convicted, the Advocate said.
